Tiramuuk
Green living in the Adirondacks
Tiramuuk is an environmentally friendly, seasonal rental or great weekend getaway located in the Adirondack Mountains in the town of Minerva New York. It was built with quality craftsmanship, and green living in mind. Using mostly the earth and trees from the surrounding woods it combines a colonial style timber frame structure with straw bale and earthen plaster walls giving it an adobe/Tudor feel. The straw bale and plaster construction creates a two foot thick wall which is not only extremely economical and environmentally friendly but also unmatched in beauty by most modern house construction. Every facet of the house was personally handcrafted and took over four years to construct.
Far from the noise and cluster of cities in the Adirondack mountains , it is nestled in a fairy-tale like forest just 30 minutes north of Lake George and 6 miles from Gore Mountain (a world class Olympic training ski mountain). At the bottom of Gore Mountain is the Town of North Creek where many shops are located. Anything from ski and snowboard rentals or in the summer kayak and whitewater rafting rides can be found. Only one mile from Tiramuuk, in the hamlet of Olmsteadville, there is local general store that has food, snacks, movie rentals, etc… Nearby is Minerva Lake that offers a beach, a playground, a concession stand and a rope swing along with tennis courts, canoes and fishing.
